Yosemite Break
Had a fun week in Yosemite. Stayed down at the Wawona end, at The Redwood in Yosemite. House was a little 70's looking, but it had all the conveniences we required and some nice big bedrooms (plenty of trundle beds too, for the nine of us). Had a nice big deck too out at the back where we could lounge around and barbecue huge slabs of meat.
Had a couple of days down in the valley floor. Did the valley floor tour (again) which is always a good way to get an overview of the various places in Yosemite.
Went down to Bass Lake one day and rented a ski-boat. Bass Lake we'd never heard of, but it's only about 20 miles to the south of Yosemite. The lake is big, the water is warm and there are a couple of places there to get lunch/drinks, etc., so that was a good place to visit as a side trip. We ended up going back on Saturday for a couple of hours just to swim in the lake before driving back home to SJ.
Dinner at the Wawona on Friday night, which I liked. The food wasn't great, but I love sitting out on the front porch there having a cocktail and listening the the piano. They have a pianist every night (I think) so after you've had dinner you can adjourn to the lounge, relax and imagine you live in a time where there was no TV, cellphones and street lights. Best part of the holiday for me :-)
