waM-Who?
My son was on a school field trip today to learn about banks. They went to Washington Mutual (WaMu).
I hope he didn't listen to anything they said...

Bike Ride, Los Gatos
Nice day chillin' today. Me and Ben. Went to Target and bought "Spore" for the DS, then had a bike ride along Los Gatos Creek Trail down to Vasona Park in Los Gatos. Hung out in the park eating burgers and ice cream until 4pm, then went home. Sweet!

I'm confused ...
When republicans say 'hey wall street, here's 700 billion dollars of tax payers money to baie you out of your own fuck-up' are we still supposed to believe them when they say they're opposed to Big Government?
I wonder how may millions the CEOs of these nationalized financial institutions are going to give back as penalty for doing such a shitty job the last 5 years.
Of course, now that America's technically a communist country, maybe we can adopt some other commi practices and throw these capitalist scum bag CEOs into a detention camp in Syberia ... or Alaska maybe. Maybe comrad Palin can make that happen. Palingrad ... got a ring to it don't you think? So much more american than Alaska.

Genius Sidebar
It might as well say ...
The Genius sidebar will cost you money.
The Genius sidebar will spy on you.
Genius sidebar: Because you can't be trusted to make a decision.

Life with Windows Mobile Day 1
Well, I did something I thought I never would: I switched from Palm OS to Windows Mobile. I traded my Treo 680 for a Treo 800W.
First couple of days have gone _fairly_ well so far.
At the moment I'm enjoying the improved support of media - I've been streaming from BBC to watch Look North in Windows Media format.
I've also been enjoying streaming stereo over bluetooth to my Sony CMX-HX7BT music system in the family room.
So far I've only played with the GPS, but the integration with Google Maps is great. That would have been a mighty useful feature to have when we were lost on the way to Yosemite.
No really used the WiFi yet as the data service from Sprint seems fast enough, but the phone had no trouble connecting to my network at home and automagically knew which flavor of WPA to select.

Support your local Guatemalan pig farmer
MicroPlace (https://www.microplace.com/)
I think it's a great idea, though no doubt in 2years time we'll find out it's a horribly flawed concept.
What's amazing is the contrast between what you can do with a few hundred dollars investing at microplace compared with living in silicon valley.
At the weekend I made a $300 investment in my MicroPlace account, which will help two people set-up businesses (in some 3rd world country). It will also provide me a 2% return(*). Then I went to Costco and spent $500 on utter crap that I didn't really need.
I suppose I should be grateful and stop complaining about the price of Latte.
(*) Investments and returns are not guaranteed, you may not get your money back, it may even get eaten by the piglets.
