Northrup Grumman needs to go bankrupt

If I had a contactor quote me 500, then ultimately try change me 2000,  he wouldn't be getting paid.  AND overrun the project by 14years!  Come on!

I have no experience in building satellites, but I am an engineer, and I can see quite clearly that the chances of that solar shield deployment working successful are close to zero.

For the money they've spent on web, I bet we could have built a reliable telescope in LEO - similar to how we've built the ISS - then gently push it its L2 operating orbit.

Wood camping stove

I love to shop at REI, and I probably buy a lot of stuff that I could find cheaper elsewhere.  But this camping stove has to get an award for "bom cost to retail price markup":

Here's something I made from two discarded bean cans:

Hiking at Almaden Quicksilver - July 4, 2018

Out and back from the Hicks Road/Woods Road entrance to the Enriquita Trail via: Rood Road, Castillero Trail, Mine Hill Trail, Providencia Trail.

Stopped for lunch by the reservoir at the end of Enriquita.

Short detour to Catherine Tunnel is worth it for great views of San Jose/South Bay.

Saw several deer along Mine Hill and Providencia trails.

Providencia Pond was pretty.

Good views of Mount Umunhum, Almaden Reservoir and Guadalupe Reservoir

9.5mile hike, nothing particularly steep.
