GPS is on the way...

Just ordered one of these.

Garmin GPS

http://sagar.org/boystoys

Main thing I want a GPS for is mapping our runs when skiing. I'd also like to use it while diving - tow it along above us to map dive sites. Hopefully this should be pretty good for these purposes.

The marketing blurb claims it's highly sensitive, giving better coverage in wooded areas. Hopefully that carries over to Off Piste and In Kelp.

Hey Apple here's some programming advice

Before pushing out another update of your shitty software, you might want to learn how to use one of these things:
* Threads
* An Event Loop

I'll warn you: The first technique is a bit tricky, I'm not sure if you're ready for it. You might want to start with the second one and see how you get on.

What am I talking about?
* iTunes: If it has to do anything "hard" like access the filesystem, or open the app store it freezes up for five seconds.
* Safari: Try load a big page in safari: You're Welcome!

I know you consider your software to be a work of art, but that doesn't mean I want to stare at it's motionless canvas for 10 minutes.

Signed,

Your Number One Fan.

California State Song

I Love You California The California State Song.

My God, there's little wonder I've never heard anyone sing our state song. It is shite! I think I might need to move to Alaska, theirs is much better.

MEMS sensors: When GPS is not enough

Hmm, wonder if I can use MEMS technology to overcome my terrible dive navigation skills

MEMS sensors: When GPS is not enough

There are many existing approaches to derive location, direction and movement as they relate to pointing, steering and guiding equipment. In fact, it has become common for many applications to rely on GPS. But when it comes to navigating indoors and addressing more complex and environmentally challenging scenarios, GPS alone is insufficient...

Ah yes, once again God encourages humans to hate.

SD soldier family reacts to funeral protest ruling

...The Kansas-based fundamentalist church is known for anti-gay protests at military funerals. Gary Pillen, whose son, Paul, died in 2005 in Kuwait, tells the Rapid City Journal that if the church wants to hold such protests that's fine but that it's not proper to have them at funerals...

All we are saying, is give sharks a chance!

If SCUBA divers can sign a petition to save the sharks, then people who don't hang out in 60 foot of water should have no qualms about signing too.

The only other thing we ask, is that you stop eating shark fin soup.  Have a nice bowl of minestrone.
